Snow Dog...
We received over a foot of much-needed new snow today and Dallas couldn't be more content.
He really loves the snow, rooting around and frolicking in it like a kid. Then he'll pick a spot he likes and go 'round & 'round in circles, until he has the snow all packed down, before plopping himself down in his comfy new den.
He sat here like this today for well over an hour, under a steady snowfall, refusing to come in the house and leave all this fun white stuff behind. At one point I could hardly see him because he was so covered with snow.

Of course, most of your readers will say they saw a bear in the snow fromt that photo. I love to watch dogs frolic. You have certainly had your share of snow this year!
Hallelujah for Jim's snow - fire insurance!
Dallas is a goof.
Opec and Dallas must be kindred spirits -- Opec was sleeping contentedly as part of the snow drift yesterday, with just an occasional blink of an eye to give him away. Of course as soon as Scott went for the camera, he got up...
Tabor-
One of Dallas's nicknames is Bear, and several people we know refuse to call him anything but that.
Thankfully we're getting some decent storms but we're still far below average in our season precipitation total. Hopefully, more is on the way.
Madcap-
Dallas is a goof, and yes I don't think we'll have to worry about a forest fire this month.
Mary Anne-
I went out to check on Dallas sometime after that picture was taken, and he too, had disappeared into the snow, only giving himself away with a blink. And, like Scott, I went back into get the camera for another picture but Dallas decided to get up and come in before I could click the shutter.
We were sharing the same experiences with our silly black dogs yesterday, all these miles apart. How cool is that?
Yes, I would say Opec and Dallas are definitely kindred spirits, as are we...
My dog Bo in his younger years was always a treat for us when he ran out in the snow. He would stick his muzzle into it and root around and come up looking like a grizzled old man (which he is now). Then he would roll around on his back and wiggle back- and forth. Finally back up and a vigorous shake, and then off we go for a romp thru the woods.
Ah, they are such boon companions.
Thanks for the picture and the account of your beloved friend.
yes - a big black bear
winter can be so much fun
