Earth To America!
What Have You Done For Your Planet Today?

We are a car-free retired couple living in a small 950 sq ft mountain cabin on less than 1/4 acre at 6,750 ft elevation. The native plant habitat we established on the property now exceeds 100 species and we grow organic vegetables on a small portion of the yard. In our continuing efforts toward simple, sustainable and rewarding lives we bid our last car "Good Riddance" in January of 1997. Earth Home Garden represents what we love in life; our bountiful planet EARTH and all her natural diversity; our cozy little cabin HOME and the family it has sheltered for 29 years; and the GARDEN around us which nurtures so many native creatures and helps feed us as well. It's our PLACE TO BE........... ***NOTICE*** Unless otherwise stated, all photos and text posted here are the copyrighted property of Jim Otterstrom, who hereby grants permission to re-print or re-publish his work, freely, for non-commercial purposes, so long as it is un-altered and credit is given. Gosh, this is great! We just went to see Blue Man Group on Sunday night. Our first time seeing them. It was an awesome show, How to be a Megastar 2.0. They did this part in their show. They were great! Good on you for sharing!
that was really good.
OK. My hermitage has put me quite out of the loop and my dial-up will not allow me to view video clips unless I do naught else for two hours ......
...but...
.......
.... a group whose performance speaks to Global Warming called Blue Man Group....
.... I dunno, I just dunno.
Well, I agree with their message but I think I must be the only liberal "mother earther" I know who does not enjoy the BMG. But, as I said, an excellent message. Kathy in Ky
Jimothy, Peggoty, come out and play....
Just a note to let you know I've thought of you all and your son with the fires on Catalina.
jules-
I don't know know anything about the group, but I stumbled across this video at YouTube and thought it was really well done.
dragonfly-
Glad you like it, that's why I wanted to post it here. I think it is graphic, blunt, and powerful!

Great to see you here, I didn't think about how slow this would download for dial-up bloggers when I posted it, I apologize.
I really like the video because it's sure to get the attention of young people who've been raised with sound bites and in your face graphics. This generation needs to be thinking very carefully about how they might live in the future they're facing.
Kathy in Ky-
I haven't seen any of the BMGs other work but this one works for me. I suspect I'd get tired of the blue faces in the same way that I could never have gotten into the band Kiss, even if they played music I liked, because of their awful looking make-up.

Hi mum, I'll try and do better now if this computer co-operates.
CG-
Good to hear from you and thanks for thinking about Jimmy. There never seems to be a dull moment around here anymore, that's for sure! I've posted an update about Jimmy and the fire.
Jim:"This generation needs to be thinking very carefully about how they might live in the future they're facing."
Yes, but Blue Man Group??
I'd think, Sweating Man Group, or Hotter Than a Match Head or some such name for a group concerned about Global warming.
I'd almost expect a group called Blue Man to be singing Put Another Log on the Fire.
Next thing we'll find out their concert tour was canceled because of ice storms and blizzards or some such.
Well, good luck to them none the less. If I was trying to get people to look realistically at the future, I'd call my band the Tired Man Group.

Yeah, I don't know either, but maybe they call themselves the Blue Man Group, and paint themselves that color, because they've got a deep case of the 21st Century Blues?
Friends-
I'm embarassed to admit that I've had high-speed internet for so long now that I didn't think about what it would be like for those of you with dial-up to try and view these videos. If you have dial-up please don't feel obligated to view these videos.
Basically, I was experimenting with the technical aspects of downloading YouTube videos so so that one day I might make short videos of my own to post here.
We'll see.
But that's not to say that I won't come across a YouTube video now & then which I'd like to share with those of you who can access it in some reasonable amount of time.
Jim:"Yeah, I don't know either, but maybe they call themselves the Blue Man Group, and paint themselves that color, because they've got a deep case of the 21st Century Blues?"
Or perhaps because they've tried to convince people until they are blue in the face, as we say.
