What a beautiful quilt. Did either of you make it?

Thank you so much for your previous information on going native. We're going to kill the lawn next summer using your method with the tarps and hopefully start our own native paradise.

I was working hard in the garden all day today. The previous owners planted a lot of iris' around the border of the lawn and they have been busy procreating. They have also been severely neglected so I dug them all up, added a little extra soil, trimmed them all back, and divided them when necessary. Tomorrow I'm going to re-plant them and then add some mulch for the winter. They are all bearded so I don't think they're native (unfortunately). Even though I want to eventually be all native, for now, I'm going to keep them because I just don't have the heart to throw them away yet. They sure are beautiful when they're in bloom.

After your post on saving the juniper seeds, I actually collected some seeds of my own from some wild flowers I happened upon. I'm not sure if they're native or not but they were so showy that I couldn't help but collect some seeds. If I see it again, and I have my camera with me, I'm going to take a snapshot so hopefully someone will be able to help me identify it. This was the first time I collected seeds. It's a good feeling but I'm sure it'll be even better when I get them growing next year.

Glad you switched to Beta!

PEACE back atcha girl...

robin and v.v.-

The "quilt" is actually the printed 36 inch centerpiece of the king-size quilt made for us by Peggy's mother Gladys. The print was given to us by a friend and gladys incorporated it into a beautiful quilt for us.

v.v.-

I'm looking forward to watching your native garden unfold.

E-I-E-I-O

;~)

girl gone gardening-

There's some glitch in Blogger Beta---which I switched to and there's no switching back---which makes it temporarily impossible to post comments from a Beta Blog to a non-beta Blog or vice/versa unless you post anonymously and the blog where you wish to comment allows that.

Hopefully blogger will resolve this problem soon.
I also can't use my 'Picasa' photo uploading program until Blogger get bugs worked out there too.

David-

Me too, I wasn't going to switch over yet but someone made the case to me that eventually we'll all have to switch anyway and I realized to that with this new Blogger Beta in the works there probably isn't much maintenance or upgrade going on in the original version.

So I switched and got it over with...
...now we wait for the bugs to be fixed.

Dear friends-

Earth Home Garden is observing 30 days of silence in contemplation of PEACE.

This month of peace and quiet on the blogfront is being brought to you in light of the events of 9/11, the invasion, occupation, and destruction of Iraq, the Bush administrations 'Crusade', and his "perpetual" War On Terror.

Only madmen think they can rid the world of evil and you can't defeat terrorism with more terrorism.

I have momentarily broken the silence here to let you all know that we are fine and will resume posting on 10/11.

Peace and Love...

Jim & Peggy
