Laundry Day!

Today was really like spring here, T-Shirt weather all day, so I decided to do laundry in the James Washer (that's really the name of the thing), we bought it from Real Goods about 6 years ago.
It's bolted to the back porch and Peggy & I do most of our laundry out here in the summer.
We love the exercise and being outside as we do our chores.
Peggy has some neck & back issues and says the exercise of working the pendulum arm is really good for working out kinks in her neck.
We use non-polluting, phosphate free, bio-degradable laundry and dish detergents.
The washboard on the wall is for scrubbing out tough stains (and sometimes it's a musical instrument).

Re: laundry detergent, can you give a brand name and where you got it? For greywater recycling.

I love wringer washing machines and have had several! (Mine were electric though.)
Do you have to bucket in the water?

Kiwi-
We fill it with a hose from a nearby faucet and normally use cold water.
There is also a drain faucet for our hot water line within a few feet so if we need to use hot water for some reason we can.
When we're doing laundry we just keep the hose under pressure with a trigger nozzle attached for rinsing & refilling.
The two of us can usually get by with just a few small loads each week (my clothes, Peg's clothes, towels & sheets etc.).

The laundry detergent is called ECOS Free & Clear.
We buy it from Sol Foods Market here in Big Bear City.
