About Me
- Name: Jim
- Location: of Jim and Peg's Habitat Home, High In The Mountains Of Southern California
We are a car-free retired couple living in a small 950 sq ft mountain cabin on less than 1/4 acre at 6,750 ft elevation. The native plant habitat we established on the property now exceeds 100 species and we grow organic vegetables on a small portion of the yard. In our continuing efforts toward simple, sustainable and rewarding lives we bid our last car "Good Riddance" in January of 1997. Earth Home Garden represents what we love in life; our bountiful planet EARTH and all her natural diversity; our cozy little cabin HOME and the family it has sheltered for 29 years; and the GARDEN around us which nurtures so many native creatures and helps feed us as well. Jim,
Wow! It looks like you can't even get out your front door.
It has been so cold here in the Big Smoke that we figured you might finally be getting some snow - and sure enough there it is! Even our low local mountains got a dusting that we can see.
Claire wants to know how you got outside to take the picture. We hope that you enjoy this (better late than never) bit of winter, and the life that it will bring!
Hey Bradleyi-
I wish I could tell Claire that we had to tunnel out, but that snow in the foreground is just piled on the railing, it was a nice effect for the photo though. There's between 2 & 4 feet on the ground depending on what whether your in a drift or not. I'm going to post some more photos beneath this one in awhile.
What a nice surprise to find a comment from you today, I hope you guys are all well down in the Big Smoke.
Hi Claire, Hi Hannah, Hi Amy!
Jim & Peggy miss you!
Ours took the form of hail and cold. My San Francisco friend said her kids went outside and made snowballs out of the hail. Close enough, I guess.
I'm bundled up in two layers of clothing shivering.
Wow.... so beautiful. I stumbled upon your blog today and the photos on it are fabulous. I linked you on my blog so I can come back occasionally and check out your updates.
So beautiful and so late?? Or is this normal that you get heavy spring snows?
Ain't it lovely? I sent it down your way after we were finished with it a couple days ago. ;-). We've finally managed to get all the pathways here and there cleared. Nice to see the water, howsoever it chooseth.
wow. Personally I've seen enough of the stuff for one winter, I'm hoping it will all melt soon, but I still think it is beautiful.
The latest weather radar shows a snowstorm coming this way, should hit within the hour. Oh well.
It is so beautiful, a little late, but still so lovely to look at. How's the snowpack and rain totals for the year there? Anywhere near normal?
Have fun in it, and make a snowman!
wow...snow...it's been so long since we've had a 'real' snow around here, i was beginning to forget what it was like.
enjoy! throw a few snowballs for me!
So much for signs of spring, huh?
Beautiful! Love snow's photos.
