How many more holiday shopping seasons can the earth endure?
My heart reaches out to the other living species of planet Earth during this orgy of consumerism we call Christmas.

  1. Forget the earth, I'm not sure I can endure another shopping season! I've never understood shopping as recreation. It drives me bonkers.

Having said that, I've had my family's gifts wrapped since early Dec. Keeping it simple -- the 'things' lose their allure quickly. It's the spirit of peace, holiday cheer, and the gathering of friends and family that make my Christmas a merry one.

Well said, and I hope you enjoyed a merry one, in a cozy down home way.

    Happy New Year to you!

And even if I'm a bit late in responding, I'm always glad to see that you've dropped by to check on me...

  4. I would like to comment on this too for I, as well as Jim, shared the contempt for Christmas as a commercial entity. The very idea of corporations suggesting and through marketing trying to force us into a tradition of consumerism is disgusting. The methods of guilt that they promote for their own gain and profit is beyond criminal. I always have felt that giving a gift that is handmade and from the heart is by far more valuable than the trinket that is without effort and without energy or thought. I know I can't fabricate a 60" flat screen but I can give you a rock that is from the first time we walked on the path around the lake, and said to each other " you are my good friend"
